Mother Teresa says it well...

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack if you help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you might get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

the colts and leadership

Colts_praying I am not a native of Indianapolis but have grown in great respect for the leadership of the Indianapolis colts- Owner and especially coach, Tony Dungy -   Of course, the superbowl win is GREAT for this city as the 1st national championship in any professional sporting team.

Being from Texas and growing up with Dallas Cowboys football (Tom Landry era)    I have always had a sense that most of the NFL was ran by the Jerry Jones ethic (man who bought the cowboys and fired Landry)  and i am sure it is --  Dungy's win is great for the african-american community and integrity, Christian vision and leadership -  He does not scream at the players and the team has grown in amazing respect to Dungy and his leadership -

house, the golden rule, snow, the colts

wow!  much has been going on since i have been able to post something.   A  bit of what has been going on:

  • we have moved into a new home here in indianapolis and just now getting our internet up
  • enjoyed seeing the colts win the superbowl to wake up the next morning at 0 degrees
  • lots of snow today - i heard 10 inches and it was a high of 10 degrees!     no wind, though
  • Zayd the other night said he did not want to ask Jesus in his heart but wanted to ask the 'golden rule' -as we have been reading him a book about a little boy who was looking for a golden ruler and told by his mom later that it was the golden rule he was taught about -- zayd responded and said the golden rule means "to be nice and to listen and obey"
