quotes on human progress

"what if we were to begin measuring our progress not by our wealth but by our virture, not by our education but by our humility; and not by  our power but by our weakness?" richard swenson

"Above all, measure your progress by your experience of the love of God and its exercise before men." William wilberforce

FILM -Responding to Global Poverty and Hunger one life at a time

Hopefund_photo_1 There is much talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk about the needs in the world of hunger, poverty, disease --  Yes, we do need theological reflection and perspective and we need education but we need more tangible responses and answers on many levels: Policy issues in governments,  attention among the CHristian mission community, And PROJECTS to give people an opportunity.  THe mission of Jesus is more than words but tangible expression of love given to real people.   The impact shold be tangible and measurable in helping lift people out of poverty.

I am happy to share this new 3 minute film on the efforts we are doing to address global poverty one life at a time -  Helping people help themselves and then allowing them to help others - I believe it works.   Watch film

family at WAL-MART at 3 am

adjusting to a new time zone has been much harder than we anticipated - the kids are sleeping in now to about 4:30 am (this is after being back in north America for 10 days) The kids have been waking up around 1 am most mornings -  We found a 24-hour Wal-mart and all of us going there at 3 am was an interesting encounter, indeed.  I don't when the last time you have been to a Wal mart at these hours but a family with 2 kids is not your most common site -  people looking, confused, mostly workers stocking the shelves -    The joys of jet-lag!
