rainbow greets me in kansas

typ1 We packed up all of our belongings here in denver into a UHAUL truck and moving it to Indiana, I'm in route -- I pulled my back out again lifting our belongings as I did a few weeks ago in Nepal - we are keeping it at my wife's sisters place in Indiana. I am enjoying the flat green planes of the midwest and was blessed tonight by a rainbow and sunset in my rear view mirror tonight - God is good!

from denver

elise missed her flight from indiana on wed to denver. we flew seperate b/c she had a free ticket, thanks to frequent file miles- long day for her and zayd both. we are staying with the larsons here and they have been so kind- we are having 20 or so folks over tonight to share about all that is going on. i preach 4 times tomorrow at pathways, our home church.

last weekend was a fruitful time in costa mesa, ca with my friends at the crossing church. it was great to connect with old and new friends and share in all 5 of their services. God is good and we are blessed to serve Him!

off to california today

last night we spoke in a small group here in indiana about servlife - there was high interest and hunger to learn more, very encouraging. today i fly to southern california to be @ the crossing church for the weekend - it will be good to connect again with the team of 6 i just tool to nepal and india.
our time in indiana is coming to a close and we are off to atlanta at the end of the month... i thought last night of what it means to be a voice to the voiceless -- to give advocacy to the oppressed and poor -- Do we need the poor or do they need us? My wife commented how we don't have a home now and it prevents her from buying things because it can't all fit in her suitcase... this spun off a discussion of our "excess" in this country and "consumtion", particuraly in the church and how we would have so many more resources to give to the mission of the church if we simply bought less...now that is a good discussion for any american christian community!

My son's first prayer

i pray over zayd every night - the other night w/ his hands clasped together, his eyes closed, and his head bowed...he uttered baby talk to God like he saw his daddy do...what an amazing moment to see a 17 month old do this -- he is actually mimicking many things (singing with a mircrophone, putting a blanket over him on the couch like his mom does)

travels have picked up a bit - I was in houston this past weekend for a servlife board meeting and heading to costa mesa, Ca to be with the crossing church - we then will be in denver, co and moving our furniture out of storage--- we are going to be living in atlanta this summer.

i was reading today and meditating on the parable of jesus on sowing seeds and the 4 responses from people -- really believe that story is not about the seeds we sow but the soil that we prepare to recieve the seed. I have reflected on this in the light of parenthood and ministry at-large - what does it mean to prepare the soil? get it ready?
