I am on the plane

I am on the plane returning from Raxaul, India & Kathmandu, Nepal. I am reflecting on my time out of the states and was reminded of God's heart for the poor and lost that we so easily forget. I believe it was Augustine who wrote that the more we grow in our faith with God the less we need to be instructed, but we all need to be reminded. I was reminded of God's love that he has clearly shown and is showing today for all people to know him and worship him. Here are a few recent reminders of recent days

a..The heart of God is baffling to try and comprehend. It only makes me want to fall on my face in awe and humility and confess that I know nothing and he is everything!
b.. A new friend living in Kathmandu, Nepal and ministers among Tibetans reminded me that it will take a life time of plowing the ground before seeds will ever be ready to plant among many unreached people groups
c.. Ministry should not be measured by numbers or a "rate of return" like we value and define here in America
d.. Gune (a girl in our children's home in Raxaul) reminded me of the beauty of a smile that she always has on her face
e.. God does not promise us safety in this world, he invites us to suffer with him for His Glory
f.. Christians and churches in the west have forsaken God's heart for all nations and the poor in the name of "reaching people only in our community"

Three new children have come to our children's home in Raxaul (currently 24 children). Their parents committed suicide. When they were brought to me to be introduced, the older boy began to weep and cry. He knew that his dead parents were being talked about to this strange foreigner. I wondered if he or his other brother and younger sister had seen the corpses hanging from the roof or what were the last words that were said between parents and children. I held this boy as he cried and I began to cry and could not imagine his confusion and pain. Their death was in the local papers and is a common reality for so many who are so poor and because of their Hindu worldview, they are living a life of misery, poverty, and hunger because they have deserved it from their previous life. One life at a time, one generation at a time is what it will take to see the people in Bihar, India come to know and love God revealed in Jesus Christ.

To Him be the Glory!

i am in tokyo and

i am in tokyo and have a 5 hour layover- my body is tired but my mind is awake. the almost 13 hour flight from houston today actually went by faster than previous flights. i enjoyed the stillness and enjoyed reading 'Practicing His Presence' by brother lawerence, (17th century) I read him in college and got the book again to read again --- i left elise and zayd in indiana, as they both took me to the airport -- i just saw a little german boy about 16 months and looks so much like zayd, except being much more weight on him. for those of you who may not be aware, i am going to Nepal to meet a team from costa mesa, Ca -- i will be w/ them for a few days and meeting w/ our folks down in india and kathmandu as well --

Hope to keep updates here..stay tuned....
